A wonderful picture book that teaches us the consequences of banning things within a society. In this case, the king and his advisors decide to ban the dark. Soon within the story, the towns people become sleep-deprived, and exhausted and rebel against the king. The storytime has been created as part of a grant received from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The grant is in partnership with the Bogota Public Library and Little Ferry Public Library. With the grant, each library will participate in the Big Read. In this storytime, each child will receive a copy of the book, The King Who Banned the Dark by Emily Haworth Booth and a craft to do at home with a family member.
The book has been set up as a virtual storytime.
