This STEM Storytime is developed specially for preschool children. I especially like to use this in April when our local preschool comes for a class trip to the library.
Part I
The program begins with a talk about flowers as I read the story, I can grow a Flower by Dawn Sirett. As I read the story, I talk about how they are going to plant a flower and take it home. We talk about how flowers need dirt, seed, water, sun and of course love. While I am reading the story, teachers and volunteers will label each Dixie cup with the child's name using an Avery label #5160.
Part II
After we read the story, children go back to their tables. In groups of four, children come up to the table and plant a seed in a Dixie cup. Cups are put in a box for the teacher to take back to the school.
